Auckland says NO to asset sales

The estimated number of people who attended the Aotearoa is not for sale march in Auckland on Saturday has varied wildly.

Of course the rightwing are downplaying the protest, basically because they're scared.

Yesterday, Scoop reported:

The 2,000 strong protest was addressed at its destination, Aotea square by Labour Party leader David Shearer and Green Party leader Dr Russell Norman.

3 News reported:

Nearly 2500 people have said on Facebook that they're attending the "Aotearoa is not for sale" demonstration, which will begin at 3pm at Britomart.

stuff.co.nz reported:

About 8000 people marched on central Auckland on Saturday afternoon as opposition grows to the Government's mooted asset sales.

and the Otago Daily Times reported:

Police say about 2000 people, many carrying placards and chanting anti-government slogans, turned out for the march up Queen Street this afternoon.

The Stuff website had the number at 8000.

Today, the Herald on Sunday reported:

An estimated 3000 people joined politicians, unionists and community leaders in the Aotearoa Is Not For Sale hikoi, which passed through Auckland on its two-week journey from Cape Reinga to Wellington.

Unfortunately nobody seems to have uploaded a photo of the entire protest from above as it took up most of Queen Street. To do that, the amount of people would have easily exceeded the 10,000 expected.

So lets look at another figure:
